CataCap

Invest in community — and scale impact — with a Multi-Donor Fund.

For communities who care deeply about an issue and want to move real capital toward it. You bring the community with capital and the impact investments you want to support — CataCap handles everything else.

Rally your community around a theme you believe in. No entity to form, no fund admin to hire, no back office to run.

    What is a Multi-Donor Fund?

A Multi-Donor Fund is a pool of charitable capital, hosted on CataCap, built around a theme your community cares about. Members donate, tax-deduct immediately — and with a simple governance approach you define — decide together where the dollars go to drive the deep impact you all want to see. CataCap handles every operational detail.

    No legal paperwork

No entity to form, no operating agreement, no fund formation costs. Your fund lives under CataCap's 501(c)(3).

    No fund administration

No accountant, no custodian, no transfer agent, no onboarding. CataCap runs all of it.

    No tax or compliance burden

Tax receipts, IRS filings, anti-money-laundering checks, and disbursement compliance — all handled by CataCap.

    No back-office

No staff to manage, no software to wrangle, no ops to keep up with. You focus on the cause and your community — we'll handle the rest.

4 simple steps — from purpose to moving capital.

No fund-management background required. Go from the cause you care about to your first donor in a single afternoon.

    01

Setup your Multi-Donor Fund in minutes

Pick a name, the theme you care about, and a short pitch. That's it — no legal docs, no setup fee, no homework. Most funds are set up in about 5 minutes.

    02

    Share with your community

Send your fund's link to your network and let people add a soft commitment. No spreadsheets to chase — once you cross $50K in commitments, you're ready to launch.

    03

    CataCap takes it from here

When you hit $50K+ in commitments, we turn on donations, onboard your early supporters, issue tax receipts, and handle every operational detail. You don't have to lift a finger on the back-office side.

    04

    Deploy capital & earn returns

Pick a governance style that fits how involved you want to be — committee, your own recommendations, member voting, or a hybrid. Just say yes to the deals; we handle disbursement, reporting, impact tracking and returns.

Returns flow back to your donor-investors.

Multi-Donor Funds are charitable, but they're still real investing. When the underlying ventures generate returns, those dollars flow back to CataCap and then back to the original donors who funded the group — pro-rata, based on what each member put in.

    Example of your members' experience

    A member donates

    $10,000

    into your Multi-Donor Fund

    Group raises

    $1M

    from 50+ donor-investors

    Group deploys

    10 investments

    over ~12 months

    Returns flow back

    Pro-rata

    to original donors

How it works: A member's $10,000 represents 1% of the $1M pool. As the 10 underlying investments generate returns over time, CataCap collects those returns and routes 1% of every dollar back to that member — so they keep participating in the upside of every venture the group backed, in proportion to what they contributed.

    • The member's original donation was 100% tax-deductible up-front
    • Returns are routed back to the member's CataCap account as they come in
    • They can reinvest them, donate them again, or withdraw them

Be as hands-on as you want to be.

Pick whichever decision style fits your bandwidth — there's no wrong answer, and you can switch any time as your community grows.

    Investment committee

A small group of trusted leaders meets, diligences opportunities, and decides allocations on behalf of the fund.

    Group-leader recommendations

The founder or convener curates and recommends — members trust the lead, dollars deploy quickly.

    Member voting

Fully democratized. Every contributor gets a voice on where capital goes next — open it up to everyone who chips in, or limit voting to members above a threshold (e.g. $10K+) if you'd rather concentrate the decision-making.

    Hybrid governance

Committee picks the slate, members vote between finalists — or any blend that fits your culture.
