• neutralize about 1 million metric tons of CO₂ annually
• enlist about 100,000 consumers in shared climate action, education, and advocacy
• catalyze the investment of about $20 million in environmental and energy-efficiency programs through the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).

What’s authentic climate action?

Cooler buys and retires traceable, high-integrity emissions permits that power plants in Northeastern states must purchase to operate in RGGI states. RGGI is a regulated cap-and-invest system that has cut emissions from those industrial polluters by over 50% since 2009. Cooler’s permit purchases reduce the number of available pollution permits, pushing plants to cut emissions faster than the prescribed cap reductions.

The icing on this climate-action cake? Proceeds from RGGI emissions permit auctions are reinvested into those states for energy efficiency, environmental justice, and conservation programs.
